Until the person who harms a human being fears the truth of their crimes being exposed, they will believe they have the freedom to do as they will. Sharing your stories and your experiences begins to take away the abusers perceived power. It begins giving you the power. It wasn't until I came forward that I realized I had the ability to take control over my own life. He was committing a crime against me, which made me think that I was incapable of doing anything about it. However, by simply telling people, sharing my story with others, and coming forward, I swiftly took that power away from him. Even if the person who committed crimes against you doesn't go to jail or never has to face their crimes, you have the power to help someone else escape!
